The Communications Coordinator supports UMMA Centre by coordinating clear, timely and consistent communications for events, programmes and community initiatives. The role works with the Chairman, Executive Committee, event leads, designers and content creators to prepare and publish approved communications across UMMA platforms.
Communications Planning and Coordination
• Coordinate communications for UMMA events, programmes and initiatives.
• Maintain a communications schedule, promotional timeline and publishing checklist.
• Gather event details from organisers and confirm key information before publication.
• Coordinate communication priorities with leadership and programme leads.
Content, Copywriting and Design Coordination
• Draft, edit and finalise announcements, captions, messages and promotional copy.
• Coordinate with designers and content creators for posters, posts and digital content.
• Ensure communications are clear, accurate, warm and aligned with UMMA Centre’s values.
• Prepare registration wording, key details and call-to-action text.
Publishing and Channel Management
• Publish approved communications across social media, Email, website and YouTube.
• Schedule and monitor promotional posts, reminders and follow-up messages.
• Coordinate the use of registration links, QR codes and forms in public communications.
• Maintain consistent branding, formatting and key information across channels.
Event and Community Media Support
• Support event communications before, during and after key programmes.
• Coordinate requests for photos, short videos, updates and post-event summaries where appropriate.
• Assist with community notices, reminders and announcements as directed by leadership.
• Local to UMMA Centre
• Strong written communication and ability to write clear community-facing messages.
• Good judgement, attention to detail and ability to confirm information before publishing.
• Competent and comfortable with social media, email, WhatsApp, Canva, forms and website updates.
• Able to work with designers, organisers and volunteers to meet deadlines.
• 8 hours per week.
• Primarily remote/online, with occasional onsite attendance for meetings, events and key activities.
• Some evening and weekend work may be required.
• Preference will be given to applicants based in Melbourne who can attend onsite when required.
Remuneration will be discussed with shortlisted applicants and will be commensurate with experience, skills and availability.
